HARFORD COUNTY - Harford County has crowned the winners of its eighth annual Harford Streams Summer Adventure, an initiative to promote environmental awareness and safeguard the county's pristine waterways.

A total of 166 families/groups, 113 dogs, and 406 adventurers participated in this year's adventure - visiting dozens of unique waterways around Harford County. Designed by the Harford County government's Watershed Protection and Restoration Office, the award-winning program urges residents to capture their experiences at chosen locations via selfies and share brief remarks to win prizes.

Kristin Opulencia and her canine companion, Emi, from Forest Hill, emerged as this year's grand prize winners. After visiting over 15 locations, they won the choice between a paddleboarding trip and a family membership to Longwood Gardens. Opting for adventure, Opulencia selected the paddleboarding journey.

The Chewning family from Fallston and their four pets secured a prize for exploring over 11 locations. Given the choice between a weekend cabin getaway at Susquehanna State Park and a unique campfire-animal encounter at Eden Mill Nature Center, they chose the former.

"Congratulations to our prize winners, and thank you to the hundreds of participants for helping build support to protect our beautiful waterways in Harford County," County Executive Bob Cassilly said. "This program is a great way to encourage residents to get out and explore some of the amazing outdoor areas across our great county."
