Havre De Grace Boat Crash Claims Life, Injures Another Near Hatem Bridge

HAVRE DE GRACE - A tragic boat crash in Havre de Grace took the life of one individual and left another injured on Monday evening.

According to the Susquehanna Hose Company (SHCO), the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday. Officials said a 16-foot Jon boat and a larger 20-foot center console vessel collided near the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge.

SHCO dispatched their emergency boat, Marine 5, reaching the crash site within 10 minutes. The hose company confirmed that an adult male aboard the Jon boat died as a result of the crash. Another occupant of the Jon boat sustained injuries but is currently in stable condition.

The operator of the 20-foot vessel emerged unscathed from the crash.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police have taken charge of the investigation to determine the cause and details of the accident.
