HARFORD COUNTY - An accident involving a mini-bus and a Honda Accord resulted in 11 children being taken to local hospitals on Monday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Route 924 in Harford County, prompting a rapid response from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack.

According to a preliminary investigation, the mini-bus was traveling northbound on Maryland Route 924 (Emmorton Road) while the Honda Accord was headed in the opposite direction.

Police stated that the crash occurred as the Honda attempted to turn left onto Laurel Bush Road. Preliminary findings indicate that the Honda failed to yield the right of way, causing the bus to collide with the Honda's passenger side.

Ten children on board the KinderCare 15-passenger mini-bus were taken to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air for medical treatment.

Additionally, the driver and a 1-year-old child from the Honda Accord were taken by ground to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatment.
