Chesapeake Bay Balloon Festival Will Not Be Held In Harford County This Year

HARFORD COUNTY - The annual Chesapeake Bay Balloon Festival, originally slated to take place at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Bel Air from August 4-6, will no longer occur in Harford County this year.

Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly announced the festival's cancellation in the county on Friday, citing persistent safety concerns that couldn't be resolved before the event.

However, the balloon festival countered on Sunday via a Facebook post, asserting that the event would not be canceled and a new venue would be revealed in the upcoming week.

The post expressed surprise and disappointment at Harford County's last-minute decision, especially given the months of collaborative planning. "We were caught off guard by this sudden decision by Harford County, given our months-long collaborative efforts," it read.

The balloon festival was hosted in Talbot County at the Triple Creek Winery for the past six years before announcing the move to Harford County earlier this March.
