HARFORD COUNTY - Harford County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Kevin Phillips is taking up an unusual challenge to support the Harford County Humane Society. He will participate in a 5K race this weekend, donning full tactical gear to draw attention to the local animal shelter and raise funds for its activities.

Phillips and another SWAT team member are preparing for the Bel Air Town Run this Sunday. They intend to tackle the run in full uniform, adding another piece of tactical gear for every $500 they raise for the shelter.

"As funds for the Humane Society increase, so will the gear we run with," Phillips said in an interview with WBAL-11.

Last year, Phillips ran in full gear, generating $5,500 for the Humane Society. They hope to exceed that amount this year, calling on the community for their support.
