HARFORD COUNTY - Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly is encouraging residents to submit applications to serve on various government boards and committees.
“With a variety of subject matters overseen by county volunteers through boards and commissions, a wide range of service opportunities is available for our citizens to contribute their time and expertise,” Harford County Executive Cassilly said. “I am grateful for the many individuals who have served over the years and invite existing participants along with new individuals to apply.”
Committees range from the well-known, such as the Historic Preservation Commission, to the often-forgotten, such as the Towing Appeals Board. Often overlooked, these boards and committees are critical to an effective local government.
For some boards and commissions, county law establishes specific guidelines and qualifications for membership. The county executive’s appointments are subject to review and confirmation by the Harford County Council. Current board and commission members who wish to continue serving must also re-apply.
