HARFORD COUNTY - On Wednesday, one hundred Harford County school buses were equipped with new AngelTrax Stop Arm Cameras.

The cameras sit on the "stop-arm" that extends from school buses when they stop to let a student off. They will automatically issue citations to cars that ignore the stop sign, putting children at risk.

According to Harford County Public Schools, the cameras were placed on buses driving routes with the most stop-arm violators.

WMAR news reports that there are 17 million stop-arm violations in Harford County every school year.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office will begin issuing citations immediately. Fines for each violation are $125 and can be paid here.
