HARFORD COUNTY - On Tuesday, Harford County Public Schools opened applications for Swan Creek’s blended learning programs.

The Swan Creek program launched during the 2021-2022 school year to build an alternative learning environment for students and families in Harford County.

The school offers two blended virtual programs for students to choose from; The eLearning Blended Virtual Program is available to students in Grades 1 through 12. The In-Person Blended Virtual Program is open to students in Grades 6 through 12.

Applications for the program are due on February 15. Students who apply will be notified of their enrollment status by March 31. A lottery system will be implemented if the total number of applicants is higher than the number of classroom slots.

Parents applying for grades 2-12 e-learning or grades 6-12 for in-person, blended learning should visit the Swan Creek School website for additional information about the school.

According to a report that documents what parents, students, and staff think about the program, many students expressed “feeling a sense of belonging” at the school.

“Students attribute their sense of belonging to their teachers, who provide social-emotional support and often check in with students to assess how they are feeling. Students also attribute their sense of belonging to social activities that foster student engagement, such as spirit weeks, lunch bunches, and breakout rooms.”
