HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A trailer fire on Interstate 95 closed the highway Friday afternoon near Havre de Grace during the start of rush hour, according to officials.
After 4 p.m., the fire broke out on I-95 south past the exit for MD 155, near mile marker 87.1, state transportation authorities reported.
Crews found fire showing from a trailer carrying loaded pizzas, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company, which brought the fire under control and returned to service in half an hour.
One vehicle was involved, officials said.
I-95 south was closed, while northbound lanes remained open. Traffic was backed up to the Tydings Bridge as of 5 p.m.
By 6 p.m., lanes had reopened.
