Police Confirm Victim ID in Alleged Joppa Cannibalism

Kujoe Agyei-Kodie's roommate has admitted to his murder.

Police have confirmed the identity of the victim in the alleged cannibalism murder that shocked the Joppa community this week. The human remains found in two locations along Trimble Road in Joppa on Wednesday were identified as those of Kujoe Agyei-Kodie, according to a statement from the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Agyei-Kodie's roomate, Alexander Kinyua is the only individual to have been charged in connection with the death. Kinyua, 21, admitted to police that he killed Agyei-Kodie, 37, before eating parts of his heart and brain, according to charging documents. UPDATE: Joppa Man Charged After Alleged Cannibalism, Murder

Alexander Kinyua had been in jail just two days before Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie was reported missing from the residence the two men shared.

UPDATE (2:30 p.m., May 31)—A 21-year-old Joppatowne man was arrested Wednesday and charged with first degree murder after an alleged case of cannibalism and decapitation of a man who had been missing since Friday. Alexander Kinyua, 21, of 535 Terrapin Terrace in Joppatowne, has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault, according to a press release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday night. According to charging documents, Kinyua—a Morgan State University student—allegedly told detectives that he killed Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, cut him up with a knife then ate part of the dead man's heart and brain before hiding body parts in his basement.
