A group of Occupy Wall Street protesters made their way through Cecil County and into Havre de Grace last week on the way to Washington, D.C.
Why wait for Thanksgiving leftovers? We have some spare photos from the Occupy marchers heading through Havre de Grace, courtesy Ed Rybczynski. For all of Patch's stories on the Occupy movement into and through Harford County, click here.

Against the movement's general assembly protocol, a single person made the decision for the group to cross Hatem Bridge with the help of MTA personnel.
Kelley Brannon wanted "to take the bridge" and cross the Susquehanna River without approval or any help from authorities. But Fellow marcher Bo Han, arranged for the MTA to escort the group across the bridge from Perryville to Havre de Grace without the consensus of all 40 marchers. Alex DeAngelis agreed with Brannon that no one voted on the decision to cross the bridge, and said it went against what other Occupy groups were doing around the country. He tagged along on the march when the group passed through Occupy Philadelphia, where he was previously demonstrating. Brannon of Charlestown, NH, joined the Occupy Wall Street in New York movement on Sept. 17. She is one of the original organizers of the mobile Occupy group marching from New…

Did you encounter the Occupy marchers Thursday or Friday? The group left Havre de Grace Friday, planning to march through Aberdeen and set up Friday night camp between Joppatowne and White Marsh. What are your thoughts on the brief Occupy visit to Havre de Grace? Tell us in the comments.
Protesters stayed at the St. John's Episcopal Church parish hall Thursday into Friday and will travel to Joppatowne on Friday, and then to Baltimore and eventually to Washington.

They came, they stayed and then they left. A group of approximately 30-40 Occupy protesters marched through Cecil County Thursday, took an MTA bus across the Hatem Bridge and marched into downtown Havre de Grace on Thursday night. The group stayed at the St. John's Episcopal Church parish hall, and departed Friday morning before 10 a.m. Patch caught up with the Occupy members marching down Route 40 around 10:15 Friday morning. They will pass through Aberdeen with the goal of finding a safe place to stay overnight near the Harford-Baltimore County line Friday night. The group intends to visit the Occupy Baltimore encampment this weekend, before marching to Washington, D.C., for what one marcher called "a huge rally" in the nation's capital…

Havre de Grace is in the crosshairs of a nationwide Occupy movement Thursday night. A group of between 20 and 50 protesters marched through Cecil County Thursday, utilizing both MD Route 7 and U.S. Route 40. They are expected to cross the Hatem Bridge around 8 p.m. Patch contributors Ed and Adam Rybczynski caught the group in Cecil County and spent some time with the marchers. Patch will provide ongoing coverage and photo uploads of the protesters visit to Havre de Grace. Have photos of the group? Add them to our photos by clicking below.
Protesters will cross Hatem Bridge via bus.
Bo Han, an Occupy protester, said the marchers will cross a bridge both physically and metaphorically Thursday night. The Maryland Transit Administration is providing a bus from Cecil to Harford County via the Hatem Bridge.
Patch spoke with one Occupy marcher Thursday.

A group of more than 40 Occupy marchers are headed southwest on U.S. Route 40 toward Havre de Grace and, as of Thursday afternoon, they need help. “We’ve been having some hiccups around here with logistics around here,” a man named Turtle told Patch in a phone interview. Turtle initially reached out to Patch via Twitter. Turtle estimated the group was approximately 12 miles from Havre de Grace as of 3 p.m., and had one injured person among the group. He said the group could use help in transporting the injured person, and perhaps a few other members of the group, as well as some luggage. The marchers are southwest of Elkton, based upon landmarks Turtle provided by phone. He said the protesters had been in contact with local authorities …

UPDATED (11:55 p.m.)—They took a bus over the Susquehanna River. But when they got to Harford County, those marching from New York to Washington, D.C. in the Occupy movement stepped off and continued walking. After clearing what was one of their largest hurdles to date—the pedestrian-free Hatem Bridge—marchers were spending Thursday night in Havre de Grace. They planned to meet at 8 a.m. Friday to determine the exact plan, though Joppatowne was the next scheduled overnight stop. As of 8 p.m., those marching were stopped for photos roadside along Route 40 in Cecil County, some five miles from Havre de Grace. Initial projections suggested the group would hit the Hatem Bridge by 8 p.m., but they ended up in Havre de Grace around 9:30 p.m.—…

Glad that at least a few of the marchers displayed some common sense on crossing the bridge. As for the others, it showed a blatant disregard for the safety of others in their own group and for those commuting across the bridge who are not apart of their group. Perhaps "Inconsiderate Of Whomever Without Apology" should be interjected somewhere in their "Occupy" title.   more ›
