UPDATED (9:20 a.m.)—MD Route 136 was closed to traffic Thursday morning after a serious crash in the Churchville area and may remain closed until noon. One person was killed in the crash, WBAL and ABC 2 News are reporting. The crash, which occurred on the 300 block of Priestford Road, left at least one person with "grave injuries," according to Rich Gardiner, spokesperson for the Harford County Fire & EMS Association. One person was taken by land to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the two-vehicle crash, according to The Baltimore Sun. UPDATE (10 a.m.)—U.S. Route 1 reopened at 10 a.m. after a crash on the Conowingo Dam blocked access early Monday morning, officials said. The road connecting Cecil and Harford was closed to traffic in both directions after a crash at 6 a.m. Monday. The collision involved a car and a truck, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Volunteers extricated two people and took them to a local hospital, Gardiner said. A major intersection in Aberdeen will undergo a series of detours overnight into Friday morning, Aberdeen police said. From 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday, a series of changes will take place at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and MD Route 715—the interchange near the main gate for Aberdeen Proving Ground. The advisory lasts from 5 a.m. until noon in much of Maryland.
Much of Maryland—from the D.C. metro area to the Baltimore suburbs—is under a winter weather advisory Monday morning. The advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. until noon in Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties, as well as Baltimore City, the National Weather Service announced Sunday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s by midday, but morning commuters may encounter freezing rain mixed with sleet and possibly snow, according to the advisory. Only a trace of accumulation is expected. Winds from the south will gust to 10 to 15 mph, the advisory said. The precipitation "will cause travel difficulties," the advisory said. Maryland State police said the accident happened Wednesday morning on Pulaski Highway.
UPDATED (9:40 p.m.)—Two contractors were killed Wednesday morning while working on Pulaski Highway in Cecil County. The cause of the crash was not known as of noon Wednesday, and an investigation was ongoing, according to a release from Maryland State Police. Westbound U.S. Route 40 re-opened to traffic just before noon, according to the State Highway Adminstration. Police said the workers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as Luis E. Tadeo, 42, of the 1500 block of Palai Turn of Bowie, and Victor D. Jackson, 41, of the 5500 block of Hunt Place NE in Washington, D.C. The Maryland House on Interstate 95 would normally be buzzing with commuters Tuesday and Wednesday. The days before Thanksgiving are notoriously busy on the Interstate 95 corridor. This year, though, the island in the middle of the interstate between the Riverside and Aberdeen exits will sit rather quietly. The rest stop is closed for renovations.
