Radio Host Ed Norris Airlifted After Darlington Accident

An accident at U.S. Route 1 and Maryland Route 161 sent Edward Norris to a regional shock trauma center Wednesday evening, police said.

UPDATE: (5:52 p.m.)—Popular radio show host Ed Norris was airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Wednesday after laying down his motorcycle to avoid hitting a truck in rural Harford County. Norris, of Hampstead, was driving his Victory motorcycle northbound on U.S. Route 1 in Darlington around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a release from Maryland State Police. At the same time, a GMC truck owned by Ward Trucking and driven by Dedrick Jamal McClain of Windsor Mill made a left turn from Maryland Route 161 onto southbound Route 1, but allegedly failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle. UPDATE: Conowingo Dam Reopens After Early Morning Crash

At least two vehicles were involved in the wreck on U.S. Route 1, police said.

UPDATE (10 a.m.)—U.S. Route 1 reopened at 10 a.m. after a crash on the Conowingo Dam blocked access early Monday morning, officials said. The road connecting Cecil and Harford was closed to traffic in both directions after a crash at 6 a.m. Monday. The collision involved a car and a truck, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Volunteers extricated two people and took them to a local hospital, Gardiner said. At least two cars were involved in the wreck on the dam, which carries U.S. Route 1 over the Susquehanna River between Conowingo and Darlington, a Maryland State Police duty officer told Patch. Highway Workers Killed In Cecil County Crash

Maryland State police said the accident happened Wednesday morning on Pulaski Highway.

UPDATED (9:40 p.m.)—Two contractors were killed Wednesday morning while working on Pulaski Highway in Cecil County. The cause of the crash was not known as of noon Wednesday, and an investigation was ongoing, according to a release from Maryland State Police. Westbound U.S. Route 40 re-opened to traffic just before noon, according to the State Highway Adminstration.  Police said the workers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as Luis E. Tadeo, 42, of the 1500 block of Palai Turn of Bowie, and Victor D. Police: Search for Missing Havre de Grace Man Continues

Natural Resources Police are conducting daily checks by Conowingo Dam, according to Maryland State Police.

Investigators continue to search for a Havre de Grace man reported missing last week, according to Maryland State Police. The man, who is not being identified by police, was one of the registered owners of a Mazda found Jan. 2 near the Conowingo Dam, said Greg Shipley, spokesman for Maryland State Police. "We cannot confirm the man we are searching for was the driver. We suspect he was, but have no positive confirmation at this time," Shipley said. Shipley said that police have reason to believe someone jumped from the Conowingo Dam. After the car was found at 6:44 p.m. last Wednesday, US Route 1 was closed to traffic for two hours while multiple teams investigated the waters around the dam. Driver Killed in I-95 Crash is Identified

Yvette Allen, 35, of Aberdeen was killed in the two-vehicle crash Saturday near Exit 85.

Maryland State Police officials have released the name of the driver killed in a two-vehicle collision on I-95 near the Aberdeen exit Saturday morning. Yvette Allen, 35, of Aberdeen was killed when the Ford Expedition she was driving crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer truck parked on the shoulder of the highway near Exit 85 to Aberdeen, according to state police officials. A preliminary investigation shows that for unknown reasons Allen drove onto the shoulder of the highway, striking the truck. The truck driver's name was not released. Police Identify Prospect Road Crash Victims

All five occupants of the Mazda that crashed Saturday night were Harford County residents.

Three Harford County residents in their early 20s were killed Saturday night in a crash on Prospect Road, according to Maryland State Police. Two others were taken by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma. Police said preliminary investigation indicated Tyler G. Anderson, 21, of Jarrettsville was driving a 2008 Mazda 3 eastbound on Prospect Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which went off-road, became airborne, hit a tree and broke in half upon impact. A passerby reported seeing a vehicle off the road on MD Route 646 (Prospect Road) near Mill Green Road at 11:29 p.m., according to police. Driving Strongly Discouraged in Maryland

State police urge motorists to stay off the roads as much as possible.

Although Maryland State Police is not handing out citations for being on the road, they are strongly discouraging residents from driving. State police spokesperson Greg Shipley warned residents that increasing amount of standing water is a significant hazard to drivers because of the high risk for vehicles to hydroplane.  “People don’t realize that you don’t have to be going that fast on the road to hydroplane,” he said. Hydroplaning is caused by water being pushed up to the tires and creating a barrier of water, which decreases tire traction and inhibits drivers’ ability to safely steer their vehicles. Wednesday Traffic Halted For I-95 Accident

All three southbound lanes on I-95 were closed Wednesday afternoon in Harford County.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 were shut down near Aberdeen for an accident Wednesday afternoon. As of 3:40 p.m., the three southbound lanes were closed, but traffic was passing on the left shoulder near mile marker 86.1 in Harford County, according to officials at the Maryland State Police JFK barrack in Perryville. UPDATE: Police-Involved Shooting in White Hall

A White Hall man sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

UPDATE: (9:39 p.m.)—A Maryland State Police trooper shot a White Hall man Monday afternoon after the man pointed a shotgun at him, police say. Shortly before 1:30 p.m. a woman called 911 and said her boyfriend, 52-year-old John E. Murphy, was armed and announcing he wanted to be killed by police, according to a release from state police.
