Always wanted to know what the inside of one of Havre de Grace's oldest churches looks like? Sunday is your day to find out and no, it's not during a service. The Susquehanna Ministerium has made it a tradition to invite the public to check out local churches decorated for the holidays the Sunday between Christmas and the New Year. This marks the fourteenth year of the event, according to Maryland Tourism. The following five churches are participating: The church tour is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30. It begins at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church (101 S. Union Ave.) in Havre de Grace. See scenes from the 2011 church tour.

Trees get turned into something else after the holidays.
Harford County provides two places for residents to take their old Christmas trees. Rather than throwing them out with the trash, citizens can drop off their trees in Street or Bel Air for recycling. From there, the trees will be ground into a mulch product that the county gives away or sells in the spring, according to Bob Ernst, recycling program manager for Harford County. Since the tree recycling program's inception in 1989, residents have dropped off more than 90,000 trees, which saves landfill space, the county reports. In Havre de Grace, residents will need to put out their trash one day later than they are normally scheduled for pickup, unless their pickup day is Monday. If you have any questions, call City of Havre de Grace at 410-939-1800.

Elizabeth, yes you are correct! As i said we live across street from middle school on Lewis Lane and we couldnt have a better view.I will say come early for parking cuz it does get packed as if it was the 4th of July. Lewis Lane will be packed with no parking from the top of hill to the light. So, if you arent local or live in view come earlier for a spot.   more ›
