Havre de Grace defeated Perryville, 5-4, with a thrilling finish Wednesday at Stancill Field.
The tying run rounded third base and was halfway home, but the Havre de Grace baseball team was already celebrating Wednesday. After senior left fielder Bobby Smith's diving catch finished off classmate Christian Glassman's complete game, the Warriors enjoyed a dogpile in shallow left field. They'd earned it. The Warriors rallied to break the tie in the top of the seventh, and Glassman closed out the win in the bottom half of the frame as the Warriors advanced with a 5-4 win against Perryville at Stancill Field. The victory avenged a pair of regular season losses to the Panthers, and puts the Warriors in Friday's region final. Havre de Grace pushed across the winning run in the top of the seventh courtesy of some small-ball tactics that …

Students from Havre de Grace celebrated the event and its after-party in Aberdeen.
Saturday night as an orchestra and fireworks were erupting at Concord Point for the Havre de Grace War of 1812 bicentennial, another celebration was taking place in Aberdeen. On May 4, students from Havre de Grace High School flocked to Ripken Stadium, where their prom was held. Beforehand, a few took pictures at the lighthouse, but many went elsewhere. Fans of Havre de Grace Patch on Facebook suggested Swan Harbor, Rodgers Tavern in Perryville and individual homes as alternate locations for prom pictures since the traditional lighthouse venue was filled with equipment and visitors for the War of 1812 bicentennial. Did you take prom pics? Share them by clicking the "Upload Photos and Videos" button. After the dance, the high school had its…

Havre de Grace High School senior Morgan Enerson says the city needs a new school.
Morgan Enerson has been a Havre de Grace resident for just a year. But after moving from Nebraska, she can already see one place where her new community falls short—her school. "Havre de Grace has the same issue my old high school had: a wide open entrance and an office that is tucked away," Enerson said at a recent council meeting. See her entire verbal essay in the video attached. Enerson pointed to security as her primary concern for the two-building campus. The entrance of the school and the campus that requires students to cross a street were two points of emphasis. Enerson carries a 4.2 GPA and will attend Salisbury University in the fall, where she plans to pursue multiple degrees. During the meeting where she spoke, Enerson was …

The high school is planning its first after prom party to ensure students have a safe place to continue celebrating.
Havre de Grace High School wants their students to be safe at all times, including after prom. With that in mind, the school is planning it's inaugural "Safe After Prom Event," according to an announcement on Patch. The high school is currently the only one in the county not to have an after prom event of this kind. "The Junior/Senior Prom is such [a] wonderful event for most students; however it can also be a night of devastation, due in part to students finding unsupervised after prom parties," a letter from the Havre de Grace High School Safe After Prom Committee states. The event will take place at The Arena Club the night of May 4 from 11:30 p.m. 3:30 a.m. and will serve as an alternative to unsupervised parties. While the club offers…
