VIDEO: Highlights From Girls Lacrosse Win

Havre de Grace defeated Joppatowne in the MPSSAA playoffs last week.

The Havre de Grace girls lacrosse team wrapped up its season on Monday after Fallston won big at James R. Harris Stadium. But that doesn't mean we can't revel in the highlights of their win from the previous round. The Harford Cable Network's Chesapeake Sports Desk posted highlights from the Warriors win. Lacrosse: Fallston Eliminates Warriors Boys, Girls

The lacrosse season came to a close Monday for both Havre de Grace teams.

The Havre de Grace boys and girls lacrosse teams were eliminated from the Class 2A/1A region playoffs Monday. Fallston defeated both teams in high-scoring wins at James R. Harris Stadium. GIRLS » Fallston 20, Havre de Grace 4 Fallston got out to a double-digit lead by halftime and cruised to a win, eliminating Havre de Grace, 20-4. The Cougars advance to the region final. Havre de Grace goals were scored by Carly Thompson, Margaret Stump, Colleen McCormick and Kylee Barber.  Thompson had six draw controls. Abbie Blessing made 11 saves. Thompson Twins Leave Opponents Seeing Double

Havre de Grace leans heavily on sophomores Carly and Katie Thompson.

Carly Thompson wears No. 6 and sports a red lacrosse stick. Katie Thompson is No. 7, carrying a blue stick. Take away those identifying factors and only the closest friends and family can tell the Havre de Grace sophomore twins apart while playing on the lacrosse field. They're also identical in their competitiveness. “We are extremely competitive, especially when we are competing on opposite teams during practice scrimmages,” Carly said.    That competitive drive—coupled with a unique support for one another—only benefits the Warriors talented young lacrosse team. Entering Monday's region semifinal, Carly leads the Warriors with 28 goals, and Katie is a close second with 23. Katie leads the Warriors with 33 ground balls and 15 take-aways…

Lacrosse: Warriors Boys, Girls Both Advance

Havre de Grace won in boys and girls lacrosse playoff games Friday.

The Havre de Grace girls lacrosse team built a nine-goal lead at halftime and cruised to a 12-4 win against Joppatowne in the second round of the Class 2A/1A South region playoffs Friday at James R. Harris Stadium. The Warriors advance to visit Fallston at 4 p.m. on Monday. Katie Thompson led the Warriors with three goals. She also controlled four draws. Haley Dean and Eva Villareal each scored twice. Colleen McCormick added a goal and two assists. Carly Thompson, Margaret Stump, Kara Neiberlein and Maddi Cypher each scored single goals. Abbie Blessing made six saves. The Havre de Grace boys lacrosse team exploded with seven fourth-quarter goals to pull away from Harford Tech in a 14-9 win in the Class 2A/1A East region second round.  …

Lacrosse: Warriors Set For Playoffs

Havre de Grace's boys and girls lacrosse teams know their opponents for the playoffs.

The Havre de Grace boys and girls lacrosse teams are set for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association playoffs. The Warriors learned their opponents for the upcoming MPSSAA tournament. See the PDF files with this post depicting the brackets with the full slate of games. The Havre de Grace girls host Joppatowne at 6 p.m. Friday in the Class 2A/1A South region second round after both earned first-round byes. With a win, the Warriors would either host a semifinal round game or visit Fallston. The Warriors boys visit Rising Sun at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a Class 2A/1A East region first round clash. By winning, Havre de Grace would either visit Harford Tech or host Perryville, pending the result between the two potential opponents…

GIRLS LACROSSE: Warriors Top Joppatowne

Havre de Grace defeated the Mariners in Joppatowne Thursday.

The Warriors girls lacrosse team battled back from a tough first half to defeat Joppatowne, 10-6, in a road game on Thursday. Havre de Grace trailed, 3-2, at halftime but rebounded to improve to 7-4. Katie Thompson scored three times. Eva Villareal and Kara Neiberlein scored two goals each. Haley Dean, Brianna Haffey and Carly Thompson all scored single goals. Villareal added an assist and Carly Thompson had five draw controls. Abbie Blessing made seven saves. The Warriors close out the regular season next week with road games at Archbishop Spalding (5:30 p.m. on Monday) and Bo Manor (3:30 p.m. on Wednesday).

GIRLS LACROSSE: Warriors Fall On Senior Night

Harford Tech beat Havre de Grace in the final minute Tuesday.

The Harford Tech girls lacrosse team rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit and scored the game-winner with just 22 seconds remaining to upset Havre de Grace, 13-12, on the Warriors senior night at James R. Harris Stadium Tuesday. Havre de Grace fell to 6-4 overall with three games remaining. Gabby Spalt led Harford Tech with four goals. Margaret Stump scored four times for Havre de Grace. Carly Thompson had three goals. Katie Thompson and Kara Neiberlein had two goals each, and Haley Dean added a goal. Helen Boniface had an assist for Havre de Grace, while Stump had seven draw controls. Abbie Blessing made eight saves in the Warriors goal. Havre de Grace visits Joppatowne at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Girls Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Class Of 1

Havre de Grace recognizes senior Eva Villareal Tuesday night.

The senior class of the Havre de Grace girls lacrosse team describes itself as energetic, determined and funny. Eva Villareal is all of those things. And she is also the entire senior class for the Warriors. The Warriors team captain will be recognized on senior night as the Warriors battle Harford Tech on Tuesday at James R. Harris Stadium. While this is Villareal’s sixth year playing lacrosse, it is her first year as team captain. She explained how difficult and challenging the role could be at times—expressing her concern that guidance would be misconstrued as bossiness.  “This year has been the most encouraging compared to previous years," she said. Sports Recap: Warriors Weekend Results

The Warriors won Friday after Bel Air defeated Havre de Grace on Thursday.

The Warriors boys and girls lacrosse teams suffered losses Friday, while the softball team got back on track with two homers from Taylor Smith. Below is a recap of the action from Friday. If you have photos or video of the Warriors in action, add them to this post. The Warriors softball team lost to Bel Air, 12-7, on Thursday afternoon before winning a Friday clash with Elkton. Havre de Grace took to the road and defeated the Golden Elks, 10-0, in six innings behind a pair of homers from Taylor Smith. Smith finished with six RBIs, belting one of her homers on the third pitch of an attempted intentional walk. GIRLS LACROSSE: Warriors Topple Perryville

Havre de Grace defeated its Cecil County rival Thursday.

The Warriors girls lacrosse team turned a one-goal halftime advantage into a 20-11 win against Perryville Thursday evening at James R. Harris Stadium. Havre de Grace, which led 8-7 at the break, pulled away to improve to 6-2. Carly Thompson scored five goals with an assist to lead the Warriors attack. Haley Dean had four goals and Margaret Stump scored three and assisted on two others. Katie Thompson had two goals and an assist, while Eva Villareal and Briana Haffey had two goals each. Kara Neiberlein and Haley Stewart had single goals. Rebecca Angelini had one assist.
