HdG Man in Halftime Show at NFL Pro Bowl

The city of Havre de Grace recently recognized Jeremy Cregar and his family.

One of Havre de Grace's own will be making an appearance during Sunday night's football game. Jeremy Cregar, a member of the Marines who is stationed in Hawaii, will carry the American flag during halftime at the NFL Pro Bowl in Honolulu. "What at an honor to have an individual from Havre de Grace who is going to be representing us in uniform at the Pro Bowl," Mayor Wayne Dougherty said during the Jan. 22 City Council meeting. At the meeting, Dougherty presented Cregar's family with a certificate of recognition for his service and his family's sacrifice. "We appreciate the recognition so much," said Cregar's wife. City Council: Wall Stands, Fence Comes Down

Havre de Grace City Council voted unanimously Monday night to allow a landscaping wall in a city right-of-way, two weeks after declining to allow a fence in another city right-of-way. Council also declined to reconsider the June 18 split vote on a fence in the right-of-way at 469 Commerce Street, upholding the ruling that a 24-foot section the fence must be removed. The brick wall at 810 Market Street was deemed worthy of standing, councilmembers said, because the property owner, David Rimel, was told by city staff that he didn't need a permit. “The city staff indicated that [Rimel] did not need a permit and gave him the green light to proceed. City Council: Water & Sewer Rates, Road Code

Havre de Grace City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday.

Havre de Grace City Council will have a busy legislative session during Monday's regular meeting. Council will hear two resolutions and three ordinances during the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall. For a full, printable version of the agenda, see the PDF with this article. After an opening prayer by Tom Guilliams of the Salvation Army and a presentation by Harford County's Tiffany Robinson on the county's five-year consolidated plan, council will hear comments from citizens on agenda items.
