Havre de Grace Middle School was temporarily evacuated Friday afternoon.
Havre de Grace Middle School was temporarily evacuated for a gas smell Friday afternoon. The Susquehanna Hose Company responded to the school, located in the 400 block of Lewis Lane, around 2:15 p.m. on Friday for the report of a gas odor in a storage room, according to Teri Kranefeld, manager of communications for Harford County Public Schools. Kranefeld said the odor originated from a gas line to a small gas water heater in the room. The gas line to the heater was turned off before the building was determined safe for students to return to their classrooms. Havre de Grace High School was evacuated April 16 for a gas leak.

Within hours of the posting of a Patch article Monday morning, the city had 80 residents registered to purchase the plates. A minimum of 25 commitments was needed to send the plates to production. The license plate commemorates the War of 1812's bicentennial in Havre de Grace. The war actually took place in Havre de Grace in May 1813, when British troops came ashore near the location of …
