The city's first community garden is located on Market Street.

Been wondering about the burst of green that recently sprouted on the vacant lot next to the old Save-A-Lot on Market Street? It's a community garden managed by a group of Havre de Grace volunteers who call themselves the "Green Team." Check out the photos with this post, provided by Havre de Grace photographer Ed Rybczynski. To learn more about the Havre de Grace Green Team, email hdggreenteam@gmail.com. Gas Odor Temporarily Clears Middle School

Havre de Grace Middle School was temporarily evacuated Friday afternoon.

Havre de Grace Middle School was temporarily evacuated for a gas smell Friday afternoon. The Susquehanna Hose Company responded to the school, located in the 400 block of Lewis Lane, around 2:15 p.m. on Friday for the report of a gas odor in a storage room, according to Teri Kranefeld, manager of communications for Harford County Public Schools. Kranefeld said the odor originated from a gas line to a small gas water heater in the room. The gas line to the heater was turned off before the building was determined safe for students to return to their classrooms.  Havre de Grace High School was evacuated April 16 for a gas leak.

She is owned by Rick Porter of Fox Hill Farms in Delaware. "It is with great disappointment that I have to announce that Havre de Grace has been retired. We didn't get a positive prognosis for continuing her racing career," Porter said, according to Racingpost.com. Havre de Grace License Plates Will Cost $25

Havre de Grace unveiled a design for a city-specific license plate.

The proposed Havre de Grace commemorative license plate will cost just $25 and the city will not profit from its sale. According to City Council President Bill Martin, the proposed plate—to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812—will not generate any funds for the city as it was decided the plates will cost only enough to cover their production. Within hours of the posting of a Patch article Monday morning, the city had 80 residents registered to purchase the plates. A minimum of 25 commitments was needed to send the plates to production. The license plate commemorates the War of 1812's bicentennial in Havre de Grace. The war actually took place in Havre de Grace in May 1813, when British troops came ashore near the location of …
