Daniel Patrick Morris, 26, was in serious condition Sunday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.
A helicopter descended on Havre de Grace Saturday night to rescue a man suffering from a gunshot wound, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said. Daniel Patrick Morris, 26, of Elkton, was shot in the abdomen after a dispute in Perrywood, according to a statement from the sheriff's office. At 6:20 p.m. Saturday, authorities received a report of shots fired on the 200 block of Perrywood Court, Aaron Stewart, spokesman for the sheriff's office, told Patch. When deputies arrived at the Perrywood apartment complex, they were informed that an acquaintance of the victim took him to Harford Memorial Hospital, according to the statement. Harford County's two hospitals will restrict visitor access to patients in order to help mitigate issues surrounding a high volume of flu cases. In a statement shared with Patch Friday afternoon, Upper Chesapeake Health said it "is restricting its visitation policy in a measure to protect patients and to help control the spread of the flu this season. The visitation policy for Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace has been revised for the flu season." Police found a psychiatric patient in Havre de Grace Wednesday afternoon after he escaped from Harford Memorial Hospital, according to ExploreHarford.com. At 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 24, a man in hospital garments left the emergency room, where he was brought on an emergency petition, according to ExploreHarford.com. By Maryland law, one can file what is called an emergency petition to have another person committed to a hospital if the person has symptoms of a mental disorder and becomes violent or suicidal. Less than an hour after the patient escaped, police found the 50-year-old man on a property at Giles Street and Lodge Lane, where he surrendered without incident, according to the report. Upper Chesapeake held an informative meeting for Havre de Grace residents Tuesday.
Speaking before a group of 120 interested residents Tuesday in a forum at the Havre de Grace Community Center, Upper Chesapeake CEO Lyle Sheldon said Havre de Grace will have a new state-of-the-art hospital. Sheldon said the journey started five years ago, and it may carry even longer into the future. From the Havre de Grace Police Department: ——— South Juniata Street, 300 block, 4:55 p.m. on Nov. 19. An engine block and two axels, valued at approximately $1,400, were reported stolen. The items were last seen in the early afternoon, and were gone a few hours later. Police have no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. N. Stokes Street, 500 block, 7:05 p.m. on Nov. 18. A victim was reportedly assaulted during an argument over watching television. The man’s friend allegedly began kicking him and put him in a headlock. No serious injuries were reported, and the victim was referred to the Harford County Court Commissioner’s Office if he wished to pursue charges.
