Liquor Board Member Dies From Accidental Gunshot Wound

Randall Payne Worthington Sr. died after a shooting in Churchville that police believe was accidental.

Randall P. Worthington Sr., local businessman and member of the Harford County Liquor Control Board, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound suffered in a field in Churchville Wednesday, according to Harford County police. "It appears to be accidental," Harford County public information officer Monica Worrell said of the shooting. Worrell also said that it appears the shot was fired from Worthington's own gun, that he was alone and that investigators found no signs of foul play. She added Worthington was likely target shooting at the time and suffered a head wound which proved to be fatal. Two Harford County Businesses Fail Liquor Board Compliance Test

The Harford County Liquor Board tested 32 establishments in Harford County.

Two Harford County alcohol retailers failed an undercover compliance test Feb. 4 conducted by the Harford County Liquor Control Board in conjunction with the Harford County Sheriff's Office and the Harford County Office of Drug Control. LaCucina Restaurant in Havre de Grace and VFW Post 10146 in Darlington were the only establishments of the 32 tested to fail. The 94 percent pass rate is the highest in the last five years. “I guess 100 percent is not impossible," chairman of the Liquor Control Board Donald Hess said in a statement.
