A fire inside an Edgewood home on Monday may have been the result of arson, state fire officials say. Shortly before 8 a.m., a neighbor noticed a fire inside a two-story, split-level home in the 800 block of Fisherman Lane, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. Harford County Fire & EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner noted in a post on the organization's Facebook page that crews from Joppa, Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air, White Marsh, Fallston and Kingsville responded to the fire. The fire caused about $160,000 in damage to the building, according to the release. A fire burned through woods along Dembytown Road Sunday afternoon.
Residents on Dembytown Road in Joppa were being evacuated late Sunday afternoon after a five-alarm fire spread in the woods near their homes. Approximately 70 volunteer firefighters from Harford and Baltimore counties, as well as firefighters from Aberdeen Proving Ground, responded to the 500 block of Dembytown Road, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association. The initial call came at 12:45 p.m., and sirens blared for hours on Easter Sunday. Residents of Dembytown Road were being transported to Joppatowne High School. A firefighter was transported to a local hospital after suffering burns in a fire Saturday morning in Edgewood. The fire took place in the 1200 block of Valley Leaf Court Saturday morning, and was under control in 20 minutes, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Fire and EMS Association. Residents in the townhome were not injured, according to Gardiner. Gardiner said smoke was showing when 60 firefighters from Joppa, Magnolia, Abingdon, APG Edgewood, Kingsville and Bel Air fire departments responded.
