The Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk was held Saturday at the Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin at Tydings Park.
About 30 brave souls plunged into the water Saturday at the second annual Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk. At 10 a.m., the participants—who raised money to benefit the city's volunteer fire company—dunked into the City Yacht Basin at Tydings Park. Some dunkers plunged more than once, and many had a specific reason for dunking. Share your experience in the comments below. Stay with Patch for more from the Duck Dunk. ___ Have your own video or photos? Post them here.

The Susquehanna Hose Company deemed Saturday's inaugural event a success.
In a city known for its unique seasonal events, the inaugural Duck Dunk made a splash. When all is said and done, the Susquehanna Hose Company fundraiser likely will generate $9,000 for Havre de Grace's volunteer fire company, Chief Scott Hurst said Monday. The event was so successful that most participants have agreed to dunk again in 2013. "We have a lot of people telling us they're coming back next year," Hurst said. "Our goal was to raise $5,000, and I think we'll almost double that." Hurst said t-shirts—like those presented to the participants and sold to spectators Saturday—are still available. Hurst added that he was overwhelmed by the amount of pledge funds raised by the participants. The 31 dunkers who followed through with the …

Dunked this year and plan on it in 2013. Already telling people who pledged this year that I plan on dunking at least twice so they had better plan on upping their pledge amounts!   more ›
The inaugural Duck Dunk was held Saturday morning at the Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin.
If the idea of jumping into the chilly water at the City Yacht Basin didn't deter them, a little winter weather certainly wouldn't stop them. The participants in the first ever Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk hopped in with both feet—and arms, and in some cases, entire bodies—to support the city's volunteer fire department. For more, and to add photos, see this post from earlier in the day. Did you attend Saturday's Duck Dunk? What was the most memorable part? Tell us in the comments.

The inaugural Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk was held Saturday morning.
It was weather for a duck. Perfect, really. The inaugural Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk was held Saturday morning at the City Yacht Basin in Tydings Park, hours after snow and ice blanketed the Upper Chesapeake Bay area. More than 40 people plunged into the frigid waters of the Yacht Basin via a recently-revamped launch ramp. Air temperature barely reached the low-30s. Some dunkers went completely underwater, others went most of the way in. While some ran for the cover of heated tents, a few brave souls mustered up the courage for a second dunk moments after coming out of the icy water. Some dunkers raised more than $500 in pledges to the Susquehanna Hose Company, the beneficiary of the charity event. Did you attend the Duck Dunk? …

The first annual Susquehanna Hose Company Duck Dunk is set for Saturday morning.
More than 40 people have pre-registered for today's inagural Duck Dunk. The Susquehanna Hose Company, which benefits from the event, is anticipating more registrations Saturday morning. The original goal was 50 dunkers for the first year of the event, which challenges folks to dunk into the frigid waters at Havre de Grace's City Yacht Basin. Susquehanna Hose Company Chief Scott Hurst said the event will be held rain or shine ... or snow. Weather forecasts for Saturday are calling for a wintry mix. The dunk, itself, happens in two shifts—10 and 10:30 a.m. A pre-dunk breakfast and registration will be held at Tidewater Grille, open to dunkers from 8 to 10 a.m. Breakfast is available to accompanying non-dunkers for $10 each. Those wishing to …

Patch editor Sean Welsh and his wife are participating in Saturday's Duck Dunk.
I used to sit on my grandparents' sailboat on Pier 6 at the City Yacht Basin as a kid, watching a dog take flight off the dock at the launch ramp, soaring after a toy thrown by his owner. On Saturday, I'll be the dog. In virtually the same spot the dog used to plunge into the refreshing summer water, I'll be joining a couple dozen dedicated lunatics in taking the plunge—or dunk, rather—for charity. My wife, Liz, and I will be participating in the inaugural Duck Dunk to benefit the Susquehanna Hose Company. Patch is one of the sponsors of the event, too. Look for our logo on the shirts they'll be giving to dunkers and selling to spectators. You might say that Havre de Grace Patch is all-in on the Duck Dunk. I'm just not sure how "all in" …
