Hours of volunteer time was spent clearing David Craig Park.
David Craig Park stands in the shadows of the Amtrak Bridge along the shore of the Susquehanna River, offering a unique waterfront setting in Havre de Grace. But the newest park in town didn't always have so much to offer. Enter a group of volunteers, who spent hours—and nearly Thanksgiving Day—in 2009, clearing the park of brush and other debris. Council members Barbara Wagner and Jim Miller made mention of the project's advancement during Monday's City Council meeting. See the photos in this post, provided by George and Barbara Wagner. I love to come to the park and just sit on the granite blocks of the former bridge end. I heard from one worker recently that a deck is planned for that part of the park. Great photos, but that last one hast to be flipped mirror image, as the Amtrak bridge is to the left of the park. One of my favorite things about the park is Being there when a train zooms by.   more ›
