UPDATE (10 a.m.)—U.S. Route 1 reopened at 10 a.m. after a crash on the Conowingo Dam blocked access early Monday morning, officials said. The road connecting Cecil and Harford was closed to traffic in both directions after a crash at 6 a.m. Monday. The collision involved a car and a truck, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Volunteers extricated two people and took them to a local hospital, Gardiner said. UPDATED (9:40 p.m.)—Two contractors were killed Wednesday morning while working on Pulaski Highway in Cecil County. The cause of the crash was not known as of noon Wednesday, and an investigation was ongoing, according to a release from Maryland State Police. Westbound U.S. Route 40 re-opened to traffic just before noon, according to the State Highway Adminstration. Police said the workers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as Luis E. Tadeo, 42, of the 1500 block of Palai Turn of Bowie, and Victor D. Jackson, 41, of the 5500 block of Hunt Place NE in Washington, D.C. Water main work restricted access to the bridge Friday morning.
The Hatem Bridge has reopened at westbound Route 40 as of 3:30 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
