Raising the Bar for Good Causes

Bill Bateman's Bistro of Havre de Grace is actively involved with many local organizations, giving much needed support to the community.

It's been a tough time for many businesses. But while many have been cutting back on the amount of fundraising and support they offer the community, Bill Bateman's Bistro of Havre de Grace has stepped up their game.    Christian Giansante, 39, owns the Route 40 sports bar and restaurant that opened its doors in March 2007.  He recalls going through some of those difficult times, "I'll never forget the headline I read one day in The Sun: 'The worst economy since the Great Depression.' Then we had Maryland's worst winter on record. We're in a shopping center that is 50 percent occupied. It's been hard." But Giansante is not complaining. In fact, it's quite the opposite.
