Year After Fatal Accident, Churchville Man Charged With Manslaughter

Jordan Craig Stewart is charged with driving under the influence the day of the accident.

Nearly a year after a Street man was killed in a head-on collision, police are holding the driver responsible on several charges. Jordan Craig Stewart, now 27, of the 500 block of Bryarly Court in Churchville, was indicted Oct. 16 on charges of negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by auto while using drugs, and six related charges. The charges stem from a crash that killed a 21-year-old man. On Nov. 5, 2011, Joshua John Hanna, 21, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Maryland Route 22. Meanwhile, Stewart was driving a 1994 Dodge Ram pickup in the opposite direction. Just before 4 p.m., the pickup crossed the center line in the 3100 block of Route 22 and hit the Hanna's car head-on, Maryland State Police said …

This is Vikki, This family will never be the same because of this loss. I just can't understand why someone who has taken a life is aloud to be free for so long like nothing has happened. It makes me sick to know that he has been driving around and could possibly to take another life without any punishment for what he has done. I pray that he is punished very soon. The sadness of this situation …   more ›

Car Crashes Into Deer Creek, Injures 1

The car started to leak fluids into the water, drawing hazmat response to Rock State Park.

A car crashed into Deer Creek in Rock State Park sending one woman to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon. Shortly before 3:25 p.m. a white car crashed into water in Rock State Park in the area of Coen Road, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. The vehicle ultimately overturned onto its roof in the waterway. One woman was taken by land to a regional trauma center for treatment, Gardiner said. Fluids from the car started seeping into the water and a Harford County Hazmat Team responded to clean up the spill, Gardiner said. Fallen Deputy Comes From Family Of Law Enforcement

Cpl. Charles B. Licato of the Harford County Sheriff's Office died after an early morning car crash in Darlington Thursday.

Harford County flags are at half staff and the sheriff's office is to be shrouded in black this week in mourning of Cpl. Charles Licato—the third line-of-duty death in the agency's history. Licato died Thursday after his unmarked Harford County Sheriff's Office car crashed in the 4700 block of Conowingo Road during the early morning hours. A person driving in the area in the woods and stopped to see if anything was amiss, Sheriff L. Jesse Bane said during a Thursday afternoon press conference. The person discovered the car and used Licato's police radio to call for help. Police believe Licato was on his way to his Cecil County home following a shift when the single-car crash happened. It remained unclear Thursday afternoon what caused the …

Harford County Law Enforcement Team Up On Traffic

The year-old Harford County Traffic Task Force has lead to more than more than 6,800 traffic citations.

Harford County has a traffic problem—and local law enforcement want the public to know they're taking it seriously. A main part of their efforts include the Harford County Traffic Task Force—involving the sheriff's office, Aberdeen Police Department, Bel Air Police Department, Havre de Grace Police Department and the Maryland State Police (Bel Air and JFK Barracks). While it has been in place on a trial basis for about a year, a memorandum of understanding made it official on Tuesday. In an effort to combat the high rate of traffic fatalities and accidents in Harford County, local law enforcement formed the unofficial traffic task force in 2011 to target certain areas for enforcement and raise driver awareness. This past spring, Harford …

I agree with Mark. I see this almost daily, and it's usually the State Police who are exercising their "do as I say, not as I do" powers.   more ›
