21 Arrested, Indicted in Wiretap Investigation

Police say the World's Most Dangerous, or WMD, gang in Edgewood has been almost completely dismantled in the wake of these arrests.

Police say an Edgewood street gang is virtually out of commission in the wake of a large-scale wiretap investigation that led to 21 arrests and the confiscation of more than $680,000 in illegal drugs. Investigators with the Harford County Task Force believe the gang dubbed "World's Most Dangerous," or WMD, may also be connected to other violent crimes such as street robberies, shootings and the murder of a fellow gang member that remains under investigation. The task force investigation began in late 2011 after patrol officers noticed a pickup in the gang's activity, Lt. All this was was a publicity stunt for re election. Some arrest wrrre made and they call it a gang bust. Sorry to tell you folks but this group is not a gang! Criminals maybe but the real gangs are still around. Its not about taxpayer money it is obviously about bringing down a group of blacks in the media knowing the public will eat that up. Drugs in Harford County: It's a Problem

The commander of the Harford County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit and Harford County Taskforce visited the Citizen's Police Academy last week.

  Surrounded by high drug concentration areas, Harford County is no exception when it comes to the growing problem of illegal use and sale of drugs: it's everywhere. With illegal drugs come other problems. "The vast majority of crimes are driven by drugs," Captain Duane Williams, head of the Harford County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Division and the Harford County Taskforce, told members of the Citizen's Police Academy last week. The academy is a 15-week program designed to provide residents with a better understanding of the sheriff's office and its operations and to foster a partnership between the office and the communities it serves, according to the sheriff's office website.
