The Lardarius Webb Celebrity Softball Game was played at Ripken Stadium.

Stars from the Baltimore Ravens took to the field at Ripken Stadium Sunday afternoon, hoping to test the shortened fences during the Lardarius Webb Celebrity Softball game. IronBirds Introduce Burritos, Wings & More

The Aberdeen IronBirds will have a variety of new food options by opening day.

Entertaining baseball and family fun isn't all that's on tap when the Aberdeen IronBirds open the 2012 season next month. Ripken Stadium will have a variety of new food choices for fans when the Orioles short-season Class-A affiliate opens on June 20. The IronBirds rolled out two of their new food options—a burrito bar and a chicken wing bar—to members of the Aberdeen business community during the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday. Aside from the new bars—both of which were met with high praise Tuesday on the club level at the ballpark—the IronBirds will add Conrad's Crabs, The Charred Rib, Seasons Pizza and Rita's Ice. BASEBALL: Warriors Clip Eagles

Havre de Grace defeated Aberdeen Tuesday at Stancill Field.

Keith Sifford threw a complete game and the Warriors baseball team defeated Aberdeen, 7-2, Wednesday at Stancill Field. The win evens Havre de Grace's record at 5-5. Sifford struck out four and walked four, scattering 13 hits on 109 pitches for the win. Dan Jamison, Logan Poore and David Amici had two-hit games for the Warriors. Amici doubled and drove in two runs while scoring two more. Jamison tripled and scored a run. Poore had an RBI. Dominick Bolen had an RBI double and two runs scored. Luis Nieves-Gonzalez, Andy Meiselwitz and Christian Glassman added hits in the nine-hit attack.  Aberdeen committed seven errors, essentially negating the 14 hits from the Eagles offense. SOFTBALL: Warriors Drum Eagles, 17-1

Havre de Grace defeated Aberdeen in softball Wednesday at Stancill Field.

Hayley Kitts threw a complete game and the Havre de Grace softball team defeated Aberdeen, 17-1, in a mercy-rule shortened game Wednesday at Stancill Field. Kitts struck out four and allowed just three hits and a walk in the complete game effort. Riley Arnold doubled twice and singled once, scoring three times. Taylor Smith singled three times and scored three runs. Hailey Bethke, Emily Lewis and Kelsey McRoberts each had two singles and two runs scored. Rebecca Ashman singled once and scored two runs. The Warriors had singles and runs scored from Dana Teufer, Kayla Vaughan, Kaitlyn Husfelt and Megan Thompson. Havre de Grace visits Harford Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. FOOTBALL: Brenton Barnes Signs With College

Aberdeen senior Brenton Barnes will continue his football career in the fall.

Brenton Barnes dream of playing college football is now a reality. The Aberdeen senior lineman has signed his letter of intent to continue his education and his playing career at Wesley College in Dover, DE. Angie Barnes said her son intends to major in nursing with the goal of becoming an anesthesiologist. Barnes was an All-UCBAC selection after starting on the offensive and defensive lines for the Eagles. He led two different teams to the state playoffs in his final two seasons—anchoring the state runner-up Havre de Grace lines as a junior in 2010 and serving as a captain for the Eagles state semifinalist team in 2011.
