A Havre de Grace man and Bel Air business owner is trying to get 40,000 parade-goers to blow bubbles on the Fourth of July.
Dave Anderson says few things brighten a child's day like blowing bubbles, and he wants to harness that this Fourth of July. Before the Towson Area 4th of July Parade, the Havre de Grace man and Bel Air business owner hopes to see parade-goers break the world record for most people blowing bubbles simultaneously. Anderson said the record attempt is a way of raising awareness for children suffering from cancer and troops fighting overseas. "The Guinness Book of World Records is giving me the opportunity to break a world record and to honor our heroes," he said. The 2012 Havre de Grace Independence celebration culminated with fireworks over the water.
Havre de Grace's annual Independence Celebration was held Sunday. An afternoon parade led into the popular fireworks display over the water near Tydings Park. Did you attend Sunday's fireworks? Patch shines a spotlight on some events this week around town.
The big party around here is over. But there will be plenty more celebrating on the 4th of July as many businesses close to allow families to enjoy the holiday together. Wednesday is July Fourth, and Patch wants to help you find the best place to enjoy the fireworks.
Darlington got the ball rolling over the weekend with Harford County's first fireworks display of the 2012 July Fourth celebration season. The towns of Havre de Grace and Bel Air will offer fireworks displays as in years past, but Harford County isn't the only place local folks go to see the traditional holiday flash and bang.
