Harford Sheriff's Deputy Pleads Guilty To Bribery

Todd E. Johnson pleaded guilty Monday in Harford County District Court.

A Harford County Sheriff's Office deputy was sentenced to three years probation Monday after pleading guilty to bribery. As a condition of the plea, Deputy First Class Todd E. Johnson resigned from the sheriff's office, according to a release from the Harford County state's attorney's office. Johnson, a seven-year veteran of the sheriff's office, gave Final Notice Recovery and Location of 4501 Curtis Avenue in Baltimore unauthorized access to police databases. The business is desribed as a towing company that repossesses vehicles for banks and creditors, according to a release from the sheriff's office. Johnson used his agency issued computer to look up tag numbers for the company in an effort to locate the vehicles and owners and used the…

Sheriff: 2 Harford County Employees Charged with Gasoline Theft

The public works employees allegedly used the county's gas pumps to fuel their personal vehicles more than 40 times.

Two Port Deposit residents employed by Harford County were charged with theft and scheming after they were suspected of repeatedly stealing gas from Scarboro Landfill, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thursday. Government officials reported to the sheriff's office that Tracy L. Sexton, 43, and James E. Doran, 46, were using the county fuel pumps at the landfill to gas up their personal vehicles, police said. Both individuals worked for the Harford County Department of Public Works; Doran was employed at the waste disposal center in Street and Sexton with the division of highways, according to Robert Thomas, Harford County Government spokesman. Doran had been a county employee since February 1995 and Sexton, since …

Tires Slashed on Union Avenue: HdG Crime

The Havre de Grace Police Department provided the following information.

Union Avenue, 300 block. 6:36 a.m. on May 16. Two tires were slashed. It was the second time this happened to the same victim. Police did not have any additional information. Pennington Avenue, 700 block. 5:44 p.m. on May 15. Potentially threatening verbal statements were reported. Union Avenue, 500 block. 4:43 p.m. on May 15. A wallet and keys were reported stolen from the hospital. Police said the complaint was unfounded.

Man Injured in ATV Incident Near Webster Road

A helicopter was on the way to pick up the 19-year-old at approximately 6 p.m. Monday.

A 19-year-old was in serious condition Monday evening after an incident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) near Havre de Grace, according to a Harford County public safety official. At approximately 6 p.m. Monday, a helicopter was on its way to the Webster Road area to pick up the man for medical treatment, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association. Information about the extent of the man's injuries and the circumstances leading up to them was not immediately available, Gardiner said. All Lanes Reopened after Tydings Bridge Crash

Lane closures were in place for more than an hour after a tractor-trailer rolled over Monday afternoon.

UPDATE (4:38 p.m.)—The Tydings Bridge was cleared of a crash scene that slowed traffic for more than an hour, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported at 4:32 p.m. A tow truck had removed the tractor-trailer that overturned on Interstate 95 northbound on the bridge, and all lanes were open. Some 1,700 people -- family, friends, policemen and policewomen -- arrive at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial by bike to join thousands of others honoring fallen officers in Washington, D.C.

Led by a caravan of motorcycle cops, an estimated 1,700 people arrived at the national police memorial on their bikes Sunday, part of a week-long series of events to honor more than 19,000 officers lost in the line of duty. Route 1 Reopened after Crash Near Conowingo Dam

The crash involved four vehicles, according to transportation authorities.

UPDATE (10:12 p.m.)—A crash Thursday night shut down MD Route 1 at the Conowingo Dam for more than two hours. According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, the collision involved four vehicles. It was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday. All lanes of US 1 had been shut down at 7:44 p.m. and remained closed until approximately 10 p.m. As of 8:30 p.m., Conowingo Road was closed at Shuresville Road on the Darlington side of the dam, and at MD Route 222 on the Conowingo side, said Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association.
