Tech programs were being cut 20 years ago when I was in high school. Everyone was being toldRead More computer science was the future. Then the 'dot-com' bubble burst and there were no jobs. Apparently we have not learned the lesson.

Cutting extracurricular activies or limiting access with fees is ridiculous. Teenagers especiallyRead More should be interacting with each other rather than with computers, cell phones, and video games. Like someone above said, the equipment and uniforms cost enough; you shouldn't have to pay to step on the grass. This sounds a lot like the health insurance nightmare where over 1/3 of premiums go to management denying care instead of providing it. And that doesn't account for how much time the doctors waste fighting the denials. Funding should go to those who deal directly with the students: teachers, mentors and coaches. Cut some bureaucracy.

The two things that should never get cut is teachers and the transportation for the students....

Doesn't Harford County approve school construction, site plans, utilities, run-off, etc? Why wouldRead More the school system pay for something that was approved? Shouldn't the approving body be assessed the fine?
Grand Dad June 16, 2013 at 06:32 pm
At the time when the school was built it was not in violation. Environmental issues and new guidanceRead More have come about since then that require modifications to the existing drainage and run off. Although, I do feel that our children's education and school meals take a back seat to certain requirements being handed down. These mandates are an expensive overkill for little improvement to our ECO system. I believe local industry in Harford County has been a greater contributor to our fresh water problem then the run off from our learning institutions.

This is very nice. These folks were able to make a modest donation and have their names displayed inRead More recognition… When J M Huber Corporation was approached they donated $25,000 since it was the estimate given for the cost of the scoreboard. Cytec was given the scoreboard and Huber’s donation was instead used towards the press box. I won’t speculate on the politics of how that decision came about, but a sign to recognize Huber’s donation has been promised for years now.

Hypocrisy in action. It's what we have come to expect. Shouldn't there be some age limit in HCPS.Read More What is this woman...seventy five years old?

I remember in college, the students who bragged about a high school GPA higher than 4 (out of 4)Read More thought college was difficult… freshman year. That’s not exactly sound math… it wasn't allowed at my high school.

Do you know her reasons? Perhaps private school was best for him for reasons that had nothing to doRead More with the public school system.
