I'm a 12 yr resident of HdG. My friend & I like to eat out and have patronized all of HdG's fine eateries. The Tidewater Grill disappoints us. The food is just ok. The location, facility, and atmosphere is top notch. If they only had great food, this restaurant would be unbeatable! I have sent visitors to Tidewater and nobody raves about the food. They love the location, of course. Every now and then my friend and I try The Tidewater Grill again...same thing. The food isn't terrible, it's just not great. We always say, "if they just improved their food..."

The Tidewater Grille is Havre de Grace's only water-front restaurant. Extensive use of glass and the open design of the restaurant ensure views of the water regardless of where you sit. It has a cozy bar, lounge, formal dining room, four-season's porch, and two outside decks. The same menu is available all day, everything from delicately seasoned crab cakes, burgers, soups, salads, and sandwiches to pasta, prime rib, lobster, and fresh fish, the restaurant's mainstay. Zagat rated, the restaurant also hosts special events ranging from company meetings to wedding receptions. Enjoy live entertainment every weekend. There is a private dock for hungry boaters too.

I've eaten at the TWG once. I sat outside and the view was incredable. Sailboats sailing by, the train rumbling across the bridge. Perfect. Food was O.K. and a bit pricey. I had wasabi seared tuna and it was great. My wife had something that was obviously forgetable and not so good. Service was fair considering how busy they were. I will go back. Most likely to celibrate some special occasion like on my last visit.
I'm lukewarm about the Tidewater. Sometimes the food's good, other times it isn't. I don't like eating in the dining room as it is noisy and "close." So, I usually eat there during nice weather when we can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view.
I'm still in awe of the GREAT job TWG did to support the fundraiser held there last year for one of their former emplyees. Ralph opened the whole place for it and the constant flow of really great appetizers was impressive. We've eaten there several times since and haven't been disappointed. It's a little pricey compared to some of the other places close by BUT, the view and the service is worth it.
Usually, we'll dinghy from Tidewater Marina to the TWG dock (very convenient)
Besides, we get to see the Lantern Queen go by (shameless plug) :-)
I have eaten there twice. First time it was great, second time was quite a letdown. I ordered Salmon on Rice. The Salmon was great but the rice was old, hard and dry. Rice is cheap, why would the cook allow dried out rice to be served to a customer? Then to top off my evening, the waitress tried to sell me her on her new business opportunity, selling knives or life insurance or whatever it was. I know that mistakes happen in the kitchen, and some employees are just bad, but this was two knocks in one night. Not good.
The view is beautiful! breakfast food was OK at best. I enjoyed dinner much better there than the breakfast on the weekend.
Best views in town - the outdoor deck is the place to be for dinner or drinks.
I attended a Main Street meeting at Tidewater Grille and had the most wonderful meal! BBQ Salmon over fresh cole slaw with fresh green beans. YUM! I ate it very slowly to savor every bite! Awesome! Thanks Ralph! My complements to the chef!!!!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at the TWG in September 2010. We had about 105 guests and entertained on the lawn of the TWG under a huge wedding tent. We had a beautiful 80 degree, sunshiney day on the water. The restaurant manager, Julie, was wonderful to work with and helped me out so much along the way with my planning. Everyone had a wonderful time, the food was absolutely delicious! and it could not have been a more beautiful location. Many thanks to the TWG and all the staff who worked our wedding for a wonderful day that we'll never forget!
Good food, good price, great view, fantastic vib. Whether you're eating in the bar, the dining room or on the patio, TWG is a great place for brunch, lunch or dinner. O' and it's in Havre de Grace, where all the cool kids hang out!
Our book club has a had a yearly Christmas dinner for more than 10 years. We are still raving about the food and good time we had at TWG this year. The last 2 years we went to another upscale restaurant on the hill . Their food and service were very disappointing. So this year we chose TWG. Several of us had the the encrusted salmon . YUM!
This restaurant has it all! Excellent food, wonderful staff, and a great view! The wide menu has something for everyone!

I am also a local that enjoys going to the different restaurants in the downtown area, especially the ones I can walk to. I disagree with a few of the reviewers. I love this place! Don't know what I enjoy more-the food, the awesome staff, not to mention the best view in Harford County! I have never been disappointed by the food or the service. I am always greeted with friendly faces starting at the front door all the way to the bartenders. My favorite dish, the rockfish chesapeake, keeps me coming back for more. When they are in season, the fresh softshell sandwiches are hands down the best you can get! We usually go in when Chris Walters is playing in the bar and have dinner first. If your a craft beer fanatic like we are, I would definitely check out Tidewater's extensive beer list. They have like 12 on tap & 20 in the bottle. For those of you who have not tried it, go and for those of you that were turned off in the past, give it another try-I don't think you will be disappointed twice. I will always recommend the Tidewater Grille to anybody! Keep up the good work!
