I love the Laurrapin's vibe. I love that they use local meat & produce. I don't mind the noise. There service needs severe help. Many times I have waited patiently at the bar for a long time before being greeted by a less than enthusiastic bartender. Table servers are definitely better but not the best. Their food & wine selections are definitely top notch, just wish the service could be there with it...We will go back & try again. Maybe the bartenders just had a few bad nights...

One of the newer, yet more popular fine dining choices in Havre de Grace, Laurrapin Grille is both upscale and casual. It has a bar area, cocktail lounge and fine dining area. Executive chef and owner Bruce Clarke specializes in a Northern California-inspired menu, with some unique Havre de Grace standards—seafood, steak and crab dip. Great food, fun atmosphere, friendly people and good music on the weekends! There is nothing not to like about Laurrapin Grille. They have something on the menu for all tastes and appetites. The menu changes regularly with new dishes and some old favorites. My husband loves the beer selection. Check it out, you will not be disappointed!
Food is good and offers variety, the bar is good. I've found the owners friendly. Service is mostly good, although I have had a few exceptions. Points off for noise. You really can't have a dinner conversation there. Everything is a hard surface and noise just bounces around. If there were noise absorbing buffers in the ceiling, or carpeted areas, it might help. (But I know it would also hurt the live music effect)
Food is O.K. Let's talk about the beer selection!! A+++ I've always had a good time at Laurrapins. Friendly service. A little pricey but that keeps the rif raf in other bars. Great atmosphere too. Ha. Try and find the men's room!! lol.
I agree with Bob. One of the great things about the Larrupin is that it does give you the chance to try new things! I've had many a fine meal there and we love Bruce and Sharifa. They bring two things to the Harford County restaurant scene that has been sorely lacking, Variety and imagination!!!
(yes, I shorted a star because the Larrupin is VERY noisy.)
As always, Laurrapin doesn't disappoint. I had a great Oyster Gumbo and Endive Waldorf salad, that are new to the menu. One of great things about this restaurant (other than staff, quality of food, ecletic decor) is that they change the menu frequently so you always feel like it's a new experience. It's up there as one of my favorite places to eat and relax. Keep up the good work!! Also, the owners are committed to the community and service to different causes and that's a good thing.
Used to love this place, but recently, I've been disappointed. Happy Hour used to be great fun, but the drinks have gotten more expensive and the snacks are no longer provided. Saddly, my friends prefer to go elsewhere. The menu has changed and some of my favorite items are gone. I used to think the price or meals was a little high, but the food made it worth it. Not lately, though. Some of my meals have been disappointing.
If you go on a "good" night, you'll be delighted. Otherwise......
Great food and a nice selection of specialty beers. Great place for a night out.
I always have a nice meal at Laurrapin the lunch is always filing and enjoyable. The evenings have a nice crowd of friendly people and the food has always been satisfying. The drinks have been to my liking every time I stop in. Bruce and Sherifa do a wonderful job along with there staff.

This is not a fine dining restaurant. It used to be but not since they expanded. The atmosphere is more of an upscale sports bar. It is always loud even without music.
The food is OK. It looks better than it tastes. I had the Harford County Dip "Slow roasted Level Farm Beef thinly sliced served hot on French bread with caramelized onions and Keye’s Creamery cheddar, served with a Du Claw Brewery beer au jus" according to the menu. The beef was hard to chew and I couldn't taste the cheese at all. After that beautiful description, I was disappointed. It was just an OK tasting hot roast beef sandwich.
While the food does taste good, I found it very difficult to enjoy my meal as well as conversation with dining partners because the live music is so loud that it id deafening. The atmosphere is NOT quiet, and therefore I no longer dine at the establishment, but feel free to check it out for yourself.

Aside from the crappy live music the food's never disappointed me. I just try to catch them on a night they aren't playing live music by some rinky-dink band. I know the bartenders well enough and I know the wait staff and cook staff.
