Single mothers or wives of deployed military can get treated to manicures, makeup, massage, glamour shots and child care, during the "Spa Day" organized by Good Cause, a nonprofit that caters to parents. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ramada Inn (1700 Van Bibber Rd.) in Edgewood. To register, contact Leah Clark at 410-916-7770.
Head to Tydings Park with the kids on Saturday for the Children's Art Festival. Face painting, scarecrow making, balloon creations and other activities will be going on at the free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is sponsored by the Havre de Grace Arts Commission.
If creepy crawlies are your thing, you won't want to miss the All Maryland Reptile Show, featuring spiders and reptiles, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Havre de Grace Community Center (100 Lagaret Ln.). Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 2 to 6.
Meet at 3 p.m. on the 1200 block of Bulle Rock Parkway for the 5K Patriot Fun Walk and Festival. Participants will walk through the Bulle Rock development and learn about heroes from 9/11 along the way. The walk will be followed by a festival featuring games, food and music. It's $15 to register for the race, with proceeds going to Fisher House, a haven for wounded warriors in Maryland.
The Havre de Grace Knights of Columbus is holding a Surf and Turf dinner at Saint Patrick Hall. Alcohol will be served.
The Decorator Show House at Rockfield Manor opens Saturday and runs through Sept. 22. The house in Bel Air (501 Churchville Rd.) showcases interior decorating by several Havre de Grace business owners. Tickets are $20, available at Simplicity Antique Boutique (454 Franklin St.) and the Havre de Grace Visitors Center (450 Pennington Ave.). The fundraiser, which supports the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance, is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and most other days; see the show house schedule here.
Music Under the Stars presents several bands at Mt. Felix Winery and Vineyard from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the vineyard (2000 Level Rd.) and Salon Marielle (429 Saint John St.).
Taking your car for its Sunday wash? Head over to the Susquehanna Hose Company's Division 1. Proceeds from the car wash will benefit the Havre de Grace Rec Cheerleaders. To sweeten the deal, there's also a yard sale going on at the station, located at 453 S. Juniata St. The event lasts from 9 a.m. to noon.
Does your pet need some spiritual cleansing? Pastor Norman Obenshain of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church will perform the Blessing of the Animals at 1, 2 and 3 p.m., with individual animal blessings at the conclusion of each service, at Tydings Park. The Humane Society of Harford County is participating in an accompanying pet expo at the affair, which takes place at the park from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
