The parade starts at 6 p.m. in front of the American Legion on St. John St. and will proceed onto Washington Street until it concludes at Congress Avenue.

Holiday shoppers, stores will be open downtown for those looking to support local businesses (I did all my holiday shopping in downtown Havre de Grace last year!).

The following stores are offering discounts, according to Havre de Grace Main Street:

  • Distinctive Décor—open until 7 p.m. Friday—is having a huge inventory clearance through Dec. 30. Items are 40 to 50 percent off; 322 St. John St.
  • Sterling Bridge Jewelry—open until 10 p.m.—will be offering light refreshments for store visitors. Customers will receive a free gift with each purchase while supplies last; 119 N. Washington St.
  • Wonder Toys—open until 9 p.m.—is offering a special from 5 to 9 p.m. on Melissa & Doug products. Buy two Melissa & Doug items and get a third for 50 percent off (product of equal or lesser value); 311 St. John St.
