STORM UPDATES: Harford Government Opening Late, Public Schools Closed

Harford County Public Schools are closed on Friday. Employees are on code green. Essential personnel should report for work at 10 a.m.

College: Harford Community College is closed on Friday.

County government: 
Harford County government will open at 10:30 a.m. due to hazardous driving and inclement weather conditions. Liberal leave is in effect.

APG: Aberdeen Proving Ground is on a two-hour delay.

Town of Bel Air: Offices in the town of Bel Air will open at 10 a.m.

Harford Transit: 
Due to inclement weather and road conditions throughout Harford County, Harford Transit Link will be operating its fixed routes only on Friday. Additionally, service on side roads may be delayed and no curb-to-curb service will be provided.


School: School has been canceled for Thursday, according to Harford County Public Schools. Employees are on code green, meaning all schools and offices are closed; essential personnel must report, according to specific instructions; no second-shift custodians are on duty; and all day care and evening activities are canceled.

County government: Harford County government offices and Harford Transit will be closed Thursday.

County waste disposal: Harford Waste Disposal Center will be closed Thursday.

Libraries: All branches of the Harford County Public Library will be closed Thursday.

State government: All Maryland state offices and facilities will be closed beginning at midnight on Feb. 12 through the end of the day shift on Feb. 13. Emergency essential personnel should report as scheduled.

Federal government: Federal offices in the Washington, D.C., area are closed on Thursday. Emergency and telework-ready employees required to work must follow their agencies' policies.

Chamber of commerce: The Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce has canceled its February luncheon slated for Thursday, where County Executive David Craig was scheduled to speak. Its next luncheon will be March 13.

Ahead of the winter storm coming Wednesday evening, Harford County Public Schools canceled all after-school and evening activities.

Earlier in the day, Abingdon Elementary School was dismissed due to a mechanical failure that affected the heating system.
