The concept plan for the proposed Havre de Grace hospital will be made public Monday.

The concept plan for a proposed new Upper Chesapeake hospital in Havre de Grace will be reviewed at a meeting Monday.

The Havre de Grace planning commission will review the plan at a 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall.

The meeting will be the only opportunity for the public to view and give input on the plan.

By ordinance, the Havre de Grace planning commission is empowered to review and make recommendations on the concept plan within a 30-day period. That window begins at the point in which the planning department receives the plan.

Planning commission chairman Curtis Coon told Patch Havre de Grace's planning department received the plan Aug. 20 and completed its review on Aug. 31.

Coon said he felt "cramped" with the time frame and only one opportunity for residents to give input on the plan.

The full agenda for the meeting can be found on the city website and in printable form included with this article.

my only thought at the moment: TRAFFIC

Can't wait for the hospital to leave town. It is a nuisance. All that traffic! The ambulances wail their sirens until they are in the emergency bay, the delivery trucks come at night and make enough noise to wake the neighborhood with their back-up beeps and off-loading. The employees stand outside peoples homes on Lodge lane at ALL hours of the day smoking, talking loudly (3am), and stinking up the area then leave their cigarette butts on the ground. And even though there is ample parking for employees they still park on the side streets where residents live. And those that use the parking lot on the east side of Washington Street turn the wrong way onto the street to keep from having to go a few extra yards to enter it properly. More than a few times they have come close to hitting other cars using the street legally. People that leave the hospital through Lodge lane NEVER stop at the stop sign and several people drive the wrong way on Washington Street every day. I could go on and on but I just can’t wait for the hospital to leave town.

Oh...I forgot the stench from the smokestacks when the wind is out of the north. Smells like anti-freeze and the noise of the air-conditioners on the roof. See we, like others in the area open our windows.

I see the people driving the wrong way on Washington Street almost every morning when I head to work. The worst part is when they give me a dirty look when they almost run into me going the right way.

Correction-- Planning Commission recommended approval of the Concept Plan. The Commission does not have authority to approve or disapprove, only to make recommendation.

Great news, I hope it was a unanimous vote. Havre de Grace needs a new hospital.
