At two upcoming work sessions, the mayor and city council will hash out the budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1 and ends June 30, 2015.

The first session, slated for Monday, will focus on the water and sewer and marina fund, according to a statement from the city.

The second budget work session, on Monday, April 14, will be to discuss the general fund.

Mayor Wayne Dougherty said his budget includes operational spending cuts and raises in service fees to compensate for lagging development.

Among the changes is a proposal to increase the water and sewer rate by 20 percent, a move the mayor said the Water/Sewer Rate Commission recommended.

The work sessions are public and will be held at the City Council Chambers, 711 Pennington Avenue, in Havre de Grace.

The water/sewer/marina work session starts at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 31.

The general fund work session starts at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 14.
