Teen Charged in Fire Outside HdG Boys & Girls Club

A 16-year-old is facing charges after allegedly setting fire to a commercial-grade trash container Thursday night off Lewis Lane, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

At 7:01 p.m., four firefighters put out the blaze, which broke out in a commercial-grade trash can outside the Havre de Grace Boys and Girls Club, the fire marshal reported.

Witnesses said they saw the teen set the fire and called 911, after the teen had an altercation with a gym supervisor, the report stated.

Damage was estimated to be nearly $400, according to the report.

The teen was charged with second-degree malicious burning and burning of a trash container, the fire marshal said. He was released to his parent pending actions by the Harford County Department of Juvenile Services, according to the report. He was a Havre de Grace resident, The Aegis reported.

Ummmmm HdG has I believe 5 firehouses in our city, why would Aberdeen be called in?? Especially for the call it was regarding. You don't think they made a mistake saying Aberdeen and ask them to just confirm that again to clarify before writing the story. I'm sorry but HdG patch truly has went down hill and half time not worth reading. Sean definitely is missed ---

Aberdeen Firefighters, huh ??? Four Susquehanna Hose Company firefighters responded to the 300 block of Lewis Lane for a commercial grade trash can fire outside of the Boys and Girls Club, according to the statement. The club is held within the Havre de Grace Activity Center.
