Arson Suspected in Monday's Edgewood Fire

The fire caused about $160,000 damage to the split-level home.

A fire inside an Edgewood home on Monday may have been the result of arson, state fire officials say.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a neighbor noticed a fire inside a two-story, split-level home in the 800 block of Fisherman Lane, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

Harford County Fire & EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner noted in a post on the organization's Facebook page that crews from Joppa, Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air, White Marsh, Fallston and Kingsville responded to the fire.

The fire caused about $160,000 in damage to the building, according to the release.

Investigators with the fire marshal's office believe the blaze was intentionally set inside, on the lower level of the home.

Anyone with information about this fire can contact the fire marshal's office at 410-836-4844.

I really hope it wasn't arson. The family lost pretty much everything.

The house has been vacant for awhile and the son was in and out of it for the past few weeks...I'm sure that's how it got started.
