A burglary suspect in Aberdeen gave chase Friday morning that resulted in an injured officer, several rammed vehicles and the suspect's death on the entrance ramp to the Maryland House rest stop on Interstate 95, Maryland State Police reported.

Before 2:30 a.m. Friday, the Aberdeen Police Department responded to a burglary at the Target at 1025 Middleton Road, according to the report.

When officers saw the suspect fleeing the store, the suspect rammed his vehicle into an Aberdeen police car, injuring the officer and disabling the car, police said.

The suspect rammed additional police cars, belonging to Maryland State Police and the Aberdeen Police Department, in a chase on north and southbound Interstate 95, according to the report.

Officials said the pursuit ended on the entrance ramp to the Maryland House rest area from I-95 south, where police fired at the suspect, who was the only person in the vehicle. The suspect, who has not been identified, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit are at the scene investigating, according to the report.

The Maryland House ramp from southbound I-95 is expected to be closed for several hours as investigators process the crime scene, police said.

Traffic on southbound I-95 will not be affected, according to the report.

This was happening as I was leaving town. The suspect vehicle and 4 cops, 2 Aberdeen and 2 MSP cars flying by as I was getting on 95. By the time I got down to the Maryland House, it was all over. Then there were at least 6 or 7 cops rolling with lights and sirens in the north bound direction. Aberdeen is not the sleepy little town it appears to be. Ilikebeingagirl
