Are you busy Saturday? If you have three hours to spare, Graw Days needs your help.
Organizers of the Oct. 13 celebration in downtown Havre de Grace are looking for volunteers in the children's section of the street fair.
Now in its fifth year, the festival is a nod to the days of "The Graw," the Havre de Grace racetrack that was built in 1912.
Leaders of the event are seeking volunteers to help with games and crafts in the "Little Rascals Roundup" area for three-hour shifts.
"Our greatest need is for 10-12 more helpers to do the little things: show a kid how to throw a beanbag through a hole and win! Play tiddlywinks; make a pinwheel; win a prize," an announcement on the Graw Days Facebook page states. "So simple and yet so important. All of these games and crafts are free to the children. Your time? Priceless."
Teenagers are welcome to volunteer. There's a free t-shirt for volunteers, and if you work more than one three-hour shift, there's a meal too.
The Graw Days Festival will be 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, in downtown Havre de Grace. Graw Days at Night will follow, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit the Graw Days 2012 website or this post from the festival's cochair in our Local Voices section.
