Keep the heat going and your blankets close—it's going to get colder, Harford County.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory effective from midnight to noon Wednesday, stating that temperatures will feel from -5 to -15 degrees.

The advisory was issued for Harford, Carroll, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Frederick and Washington counties.

A wind chill advisory means cold air and strong winds will combine to create low wind chills, according to the weather service.

People should wear a hat and gloves if they must go outside; the wind chill puts people at risk of frostbite and hypothermia, the weather service reported.

One to two inches of snow may fall after 9 p.m. Tuesday in Havre de Grace, according to the National Weather Service.

More snow will fall in southern Maryland and Virginia, according to the forecast.

"Our crews are preparing for the storm by fueling up vehicles, performing safety checks and loading salt so we can respond as soon as snow begins to fall,” Melinda B. Peters of the State Highway Administration (SHA) said.

"SHA reminds all travelers to be ‘road ready’ by filling vehicles with gas and other fluids, checking tires and charging mobile phones," Peters said. "A breakdown in these extreme temperatures is very dangerous.”
