(UPDATED at 11 p.m.)—Keep those shovels handy; parts of Maryland could see more snow this weekend, and Havre de Grace is among them.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northern Maryland from 8 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. Areas expected to be impacted include Harford northern Baltimore counties.

A winter weather advisory means snow, sleet or freezing rain will limit visibility and make roads slippery. According to the forecast for Havre de Grace, there could be one to one-and-a-half inches of snow/sleet accumulating.

The State Highway Administration said its crews would be out "before the first flake falls and will remain on duty until state roads are cleared," in a statement Friday afternoon. Its goal was for most travel lanes to be cleared four to six hours after the precipitation stops.

One official urged citizens to stay off the road once the wintry mix starts to fall.

“...during the storm please stay OFF the roads and let the plow drivers do their work," State Highway Administrator Melinda B. Peters said. "If crews are tending to disabled vehicles and crashes, they cannot treat and plow the roads.”

Snow will begin before 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, then change to sleet, snow and rain between 1 and 4 p.m. After that, the weather should be rainy for the rest of Saturday. The forecast for Sunday was clear.

Temperatures will be in the low 30s on Saturday, the weather service said.
