From a news release:

Last weekend, Aberdeen High School Junior Katie Lindsay, representing Bush River Yacht Club in Abingdon, recently won the Queen of the Chesapeake title, according to a release from the club.

In Maryland, a decades-old tradition of summer boating begins with the crowning of the Queen of the Chesapeake. In the traditional pageant, “Princesses" aged 16 to 21 are nominated to represent yacht clubs around the Chesapeake Bay.

The Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club Association is made up of 300 clubs from Virginia to New Jersey.

Bush River Yacht Club is a founding member of the Yacht Clubs of Maryland and a Charter Member of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Clubs Association. The club will celebrate its 75th anniversary June 7.

Lindsay's win is a big moment for Bush River Yacht Club, founded in 1939, which has not housed a queen since 1980.

BRYC is so proud of Katie. She has been a wonderful representative for us and will be a wonderful Queen of the Chesapeake.
