More About First Baptist Church of Havre De Grace
Originally founded as a Sunday school in 1887, the First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace was constituted in 1909. Today, overseen by Senior Pastor Ron Smith and Worship and Youth Pastor Larry Booth, the church has a total congregation numbering between 130 and 170 worshipers. The Southern Baptist church offers a food pantry and clothes closet and budget counseling. It contributes to Grace Place and provides sack lunches to an emergency facility in Riverside as well as routinely providing care packages for the city's police and emergency room staff. Recently, Pastor Smith has taken on a project on an Earlton Road site, where the church plans to share recreational space, including a softball field and paintball field. Among many of its unique ventures, First Baptist Church offers a Sunrise Service on Easter morning overlooking the Chesapeake Bay from the promenade in front of the Decoy Museum.
