Every week Havre de Grace Patch recognizes a student from the local school family—Darlington, Havre de Grace and Meadowvale elementary schools, Havre de Grace Middle and Havre de Grace High.Hakeem Wilson is a quiet guy. The sophomore at Havre de Grace High School keeps to himself away from school. He's a big fan of police shows on TV, and wants to pursue criminal justice as a career. That's why he joined the public safety club at the school. He's also a member of the band—playing the French horn. The Beck name has been intertwined with Warriors volleyball for years. David Beck is the youngest of six brothers—the latter half calling Havre de Grace High School home. The Havre de Grace senior doesn't look upon his relationship with his brothers lightly. He credits them with motivating him. "Watching my brothers not only gave me respect, but seeing the way people looked at them, I wanted to be like that, too," Beck said. Megan Thompson's name has become synonymous with softball at Havre de Grace High School. But the sport she excels at—being named first team All-Harford by The Aegis in the spring as a freshman—doesn't define the sophomore. She's also involved in the student service organization S.M.I.L.E.S., student government, Little League, and she's a drum major with the high school marching band. Gabe Larrimore is a busy guy. He is the only boy in a set of triplets. He works a summer job at BaySail School & Yacht Charters, where he says he cleans boats. A junior, Gabe plays soccer and lacrosse at Havre de Grace High School. He's also involved in the robotics club and plays the trombone in the symphonic and jazz bands. Havre de Grace Patch will regularly select a student from the area's schools as a Student of the Week. This week, Patch highlights Havre de Grace High School senior Brooke Foley. Brooke is a talented athlete, having played volleyball for four seasons and softball for three. She's given up softball to focus on volleyball year-round. After spending the past two years with the Cecil Volleyball Club, she plays for the Upper Chesapeake Volleyball Club in Bel Air from late November until May. Lamar is a member of the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams, and he plays the tenor saxaphone in the jazz band. He's also involved in the Tech Warriors robotics team, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Lamar and his mother moved to Havre de Grace when he was in eighth grade.
