Welcome to Havre de Grace where money is no object as long as it's taxpayer money.

I believe the people who voted on this will soon see they were duped into what was actually goingRead Moreto happen with property.

There was a sketch of the proposed extended park last year when this was brought before the public. Read More It showed the house removed. Many people voiced concerns about paying top dollar just to demolish it, so the city came out with the story about interest in purchase and relocation from several parties. Just recently it was reported that 4 (four) offers eventually fell through. Anyone grounded in reality, who has watched this city operate, knows that was complete BS. Would those purchasers have been willing to buy it where it was? I personally didn’t like the comment from Gamatoria that he didn’t want to sell it to just “anyone.” Who does he think he is? There was never any mention of the house being in need of repairs. The seller actually played up the fact that it was upgraded with handicap accessibility. And the argument that the other side of the lighthouse was purchased for approximately the same amount years ago where they tore down rundown apartments is no argument at all. An ‘improvement’ in need of removal gives you bargaining power to lower the purchase price when you factor in the cost of renovation. Hdg is run by idiot children with no sense of responsibility. They want it and they want it now. Pay up people.

I agree.

Really this is sad I can get more news about Havre de Grace from other sources than here and theyRead Moreha ve stories that I have not even seen in the patch yet. You would think they would at least check other publications to some ideas on stories. They should just do away with just saying each community and rename it the Maryland Patch.

Anyone do you not want more information about your local news?

The reason is because Patch laid off so many local editors & such.. It's becoming tooRead MoreCorporate. . It was much better when Sean Welsh ran it!

Let everyone enjoy the library and life. When people flaunt the rules and ignore the rights of theRead Morep eople around them they should expect to have their behaviour corrected. Libraries are typically considered to be 'quiet area's. Loud music isn't what MOST people go to the library for. The better way would be for the concerned citizen worried about the poor disrespected teens to give the rest of us a thought.

When did the library turn into a day care center?

Do some research Laura. Water/sewer in hdg is 25% more expensive than Aberdeen, increasinglyRead Morehigher with usage than Harford county (almost 50% higher with average family 15,000 gallon usage), and even worse than Baltimore. And it is not drinkable. That may be opinion, but in Aberdeen, Belair, and even Perryville you can drink it. Hdg actually sells part of the water supply to some of these other areas, so they must simply make an effort to keep the cost reasonable for people while hdg does not. Good point about the water smell. The Fells Point/ Canton area in Baltimore had one of those dead fish wash-ups a few years ago. It was a mess. Bulle Rock is a joke to the city of hdg. Pay up and shut up. And don’t crowd the downtown streets. I wasn’t aware locals got suckered in. Are there others? That garage door rule you mention has only been around for about 3 years, so if you’ve been there longer, it doesn’t apply to you. That’s called being ‘grandfathered.’ They think basic legal premise only applies in their favor, but they are wrong. Also, the original documents state lawn ornaments are not allowed, and that is basically a safety issue for the landscapers, so if your rock is not in the way of a mower, they cannot force you to remove it or (ha!) fine you. Disclosure is also a term they have difficulty with. All the new rules and fees are in violation of basic MHAA disclosure requirements. The penalties for said violations are pathetic, so join the fraud bandwagon since that’s what it is- FRAUD.

HdG is expensive, however (all caps) it is a lovely, friendly town. We moved from the DC area toRead Moreha ve a better quality of life after falling in love with the town. Our neighbors are amazing and town has its characters... There are cheaper alternatives in the area, but if you want to live where you know your neighbors and can walk to much of what you need, it is good move.

Thanks for the tips..I'm not looking to buy, FYI..just rent. I already own a place out inRead MoreCalifornia that I rent out. I'm just out here dealing with a family illness and looking for a nice, quiet, safe place to work and live, temporarily. Even you negative folks who seem to want to discourage me from moving here, still make it sound a lot better than Baltimore.

And your point is? the speeding and out of control driving on Rt. 40 is going to lead to a majorRead Moreacc ident someday. I would like to see the Aberdeen police take a greater interest on Rt. 40 where it is posted for 30 MPH. If you abide by that you had better be in the right lane or you will otherwise be "run over" by cars doing a minimum of 40. I was traveling on Rt. 40 last night at 55 and had someone tailgating me, when he blew by me he had to have accelerated to 70. Simply insane.

Route 40 is like the autobahn. The general consensus is: "Speed limits? Speed limits? We don't Read Moreneed no stinkin' speed limits!"
