Warriors Basketball Season Comes to an End

Both the Havre de Grace boys and girls basketball teams were defeated at the 1A North regional competitions this week.

The Warriors boys basketball team finished out the season with a loss at New Town Thursday night.

New Town High School will continue in the playoffs after coming away with a win against Havre de Grace, 69-50, according to the Warriors Athletics Facebook page.

Lavell McCullers and Kris Yancey scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, for the Warriors, The Aegis reported, noting that New Town was the top seed in its division.

The Feb. 28 competition was the second playoff game for the Warriors this week; on Tuesday, Havre de Grace beat Baltimore's Friendship Academy of Engineering and Technology (FAET).

In that game, the Warriors dominated FAET, 65-50.

Two-Point Game Ends Season for Warriors Girls Hoops

The Warriors girls basketball team competed at Sparrows Point Monday and lost the regional quarterfinal competition by a mere two points.

Baltimore County's Pointers came out on top at home, 38-40, but not without a fight.

According to The Aegis, Addie Richardson scored 25 points and Taylor Smith put five points on the board for the Warriors.

The Pointers continued on to the regional semifinals Wednesday at Western Tech, where they were defeated. As a result, Western Tech will play New Town on March 1 to determine which team will represent the 1A North division in the state finals.
