Walking Out on Taxi Fare Lands HdG Man in Jail
Police say Michael Jerome Walton was violent inside a taxi, but was later arrested without incident.
A Havre de Grace man who was riding in a taxi is facing charges that he got into a violent argument with a woman passenger and then bailed on the cab fare, according to police.
Michael Jerome Walton, 55, of the 800 block of Lafayette St., was charged with theft of less than $100, attempted robbery and second-degree assault, according to online court records. He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center.
Police said that at 4:34 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, a cab driver picked up Walton and a female passenger in Aberdeen. The pair requested transport to the 800 block of Lafayette St.
In the area near Sparkles Laundromat, Walton began arguing with the woman in the cab and demanded money from her, according to police.
Police said he grabbed the woman by the arm and yelled at her before getting out of the taxi and leaving the area.
The taxi driver called police, who located the suspect at Bloomsbury Avenue and Deaver Street in Havre de Grace. He was placed under arrest and charged without incident, according to police.
